As you consider this historic healthcare reform bill, please stand strong for patients.  Attempts to limit tort remedies for survivors of medical malpractice by special interests cannot be allowed.

The tort system has always been a remedy that shines the light on past negligence, thereby reducing medical errors and improving patient safety.  Moving medical malpractice cases to special courts would be costly, and a clear violation of our 7th amendment right to a trial by jury.  Any attempt to limit an injured patient’s right to their day in court should be voted down.

Patient safety must come first. Under NO circumstance, does medical malpractice tort reform belong in the healthcare reform bill.  

Please, don't sacrifice patient safety to achieve reform.
